The entire ICO community is very proud of fourth-year student Victoria Wenzel, who received the highest score in the nation of all NBEO Part I test-takers! She was given the 2011 Dr. Norman E. Wallis Award for Excellence during the AOA Optometry's Meeting last weekend. She is pictured here with ICO President Dr. Arol Augsburger. Congratulations, Victoria!

Admissions Counseling Session
Are you feeling anxious about the application process for optometry school? Do you want to talk through your current coursework and ICO’s prerequisite requirements? Are you interested in making a career change and want to know if optometry school is for you? All these questions and more can be addressed in a one-on-one admissions counseling session.

Counseling sessions can be conducted in-person or via phone. Admissions staff will provide you with tips on strengthening your application, getting your coursework on track for optometry school, and preparing a competitive application for the Admissions Committee to review.  We encourage individuals to review ICO’s web site, especially the required pre-optometry curriculum and the application process prior to scheduling an appointment. Students are encouraged to share a copy of their college transcript prior to the appointment and to come prepared with questions. At ICO, we have an unfailing commitment to excellence in optometric clinical education. Every student has access to outstanding professional faculty, unparalleled academic resources and hands-on clinical experience that begins in the very first year of study. This top-level classroom and clinical experience cannot be found anywhere else and it’s why our graduates are among the most successful in the nation.

ICO’s location in a major urban area offers all students the opportunity to treat diverse ophthalmic conditions at the Illinois Eye Institute. By the time you graduate from ICO, you will have a strong academic and clinical foundation for whatever career path you take. We are very proud of our NBEO pass rates – exceeding 97 percent – and we continually hear from optometrists in the field who tell us ICO graduates are their top choice because of their excellent professional training.

We encourage you to spend time exploring the resources on our website, and please be sure to contact us with any questions you may have. Once you discover all ICO has to offer, we hope you will join our community of students committed to the rigorous path toward a degree in optometry.
