Dr. Keith is a native of Sherwood, ND. After graduating with a degree in biology from Minot State University in Minot, ND, he went on to study at Pacific University in Oregon, where he received his doctor of optometry degree in 2008. There, he was presented with the Dean’s Award, voted by faculty and the dean, for academic excellence and commitment to fulfill the university’s mission. Following optometry school, Dr. Keith completed a hospital based residency at the Kansas City VA Medical Center where he received further training in ocular disease and vision rehabilitation. He joined the ICO faculty in 2009. His primary focus is clinical teaching and patient care but he has also taught in the laboratory and as a guest lecturer. He serves as the Chief of Eye Care Services at the Sidney Hillman Health Center, a clinical rotation for ICO students. In addition to his work at ICO, Dr. Keith is an instructor for KMK, an educational company offering review courses to optometry students preparing for their national boards and to optometrists preparing to take the board certification examination. Dr. Keith is board certified by the American Board of Optometry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry

whyico_circFollowing residency, I wanted to stay in a high-volume medical optometry environment and have the opportunity to make an impact on my profession by teaching optometry students. Working at ICO while seeing patients at IEI allows me to do just that. The clinic at ICO exposes students to very complex cases in all of the specialties of optometry, which is a win/win for the students who are learning, the attendings who enjoy teaching, and the patients who seek our care.
