Upon graduating, every student at the Illinois College of Optometry automatically becomes a member of the ICO Alumni Association. This group encourages current and future alumni relations, and upholds ICO’s commitment to excellence in clinical education. Membership is free, and includes graduates of our legacy institutions- the Northern Illinois College of Optometry (NICO,) Chicago College of Optometry (CCO,) and Monroe College of Optometry (MCO.)
All members of ICO’s Alumni Association share common bonds. Our graduates have all seen winters in Chicago, challenging patient cases in the IEI, and the thrill of Commencement. True friendships are made at ICO. We do our best to assure these bonds stay strong for a lifetime.
The Alumni Council is a group of 15 volunteers (13 alumni and 2 current students) who lead the Association and serve the college. Meeting twice per year, they are governed by their own constitution and bylaws as well as the college’s Strategic Plan. The Alumni Council creates and implements programs to serve the needs of alumni and students. Some of their annual initiatives include raising funds for scholarships for fourth year students, the Alumni Ambassador Program, and an awards ceremony recognizing excellence in optometry.
