The Alumni Association Scholarship was created to offset the financial burden a fourth-year student faces upon graduating and to acknowledge the student’s service to ICO.
- The candidate must be a full time student at the Illinois College of Optometry and enrolled in their 4th year
- The candidate must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing
- The candidate must complete a 500 word essay describing their past and present role serving ICO as a student as well as plans to further that service as an alumnus
The Alumni Council will select one recipient per year. However, if additional funds are available, the Alumni Council reserves the right to consider awarding multiple scholarships in a given year. After an awards committee determines the top three candidates, the essays of those candidates will be forwarded to the Alumni Council for final selection. The scholarship will be presented at the Capstone Program held during graduation week each May.
