ICO congratulates the Class of 2011 for their success in achieving excellence on Part I of the NBEO examination. ICO's pass rate was 97.2%, well above the national average of 92.1% for first-time takers and 85.1% for all takers of the exam. These are outstanding results, and the entire ICO community stands proud. |

With graduation a few short days away, ICO’s Class of 2010 began their celebration today during ICO Capstone, an annual event to honor achievements and ready students for commencement. The soon-to-be graduates were joined by ICO faculty, staff, industry representatives, and others to recognize students during the awards presentation. New Fellow class of 2009 includes 15 ICO grads, 4 faculty members
Academy 2009 Orlando, the annual meeting of the AAO, was attended by 4,513 optometrists, vision scientists, residents, students, and others in the optometric field. 164 new Fellows, of which 15 were ICO grads, were inducted at the annual banquet. Congratulations to:

Illinois College of Optometry Doctors Achieve Fellow Status in the American Academy of Optometry
The Illinois College of Optometry congratulates Drs. Danielle Poole, Karen Squier, Wendy Stone, and Keith Tyler for being inducted as Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry on November 14, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. Fellowship in the Academy is an accomplishment that signifies that Drs. Poole, Squier, Stone, and Tyler have exhibited the highest standards of professional competence and patient care. Only, 3,956 optometrists around the world have achieved Fellow status with the American Academy of Optometry. Congratulations! |

ICO’s Dr. Maino receives prestigious award October 2009
The College of Optometrists in Vision Development have awarded Dominick M. Maino, OD, MEd. FAAO, FCOVD-A the 2009 A.M. Skeffington Award during their annual meeting in Denver, Co. this past October.

ICO Volunteers Make a Difference at MedFest 2009
More than 40 ICO students, faculty and staff members volunteered their time and expertise at MedFest 2009, an event created in 1998 as a partnership between Special Olympics Illinois, Advocate Health Centers, and the United Center to provide free sports physicals to Special Olympics athletes. ICO volunteers joined Chicagoland Lions Club members at the United Center as part of the Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes Vision Screening. The group screened 126 athletes and distributed 48 pairs of lenses and frames, all free of charge. |
