Focus on Your Future Summer Program

The Focus on Your Future Summer Program is a weeklong program aimed at exposing underrepresented minority undergraduates to the profession of optometry and ICO. Participants will be exposed to ICO staff, faculty, students and alumni as well as the wonderful city of Chicago. The program includes:
- Student and OD panels
- Sample lectures of optometry courses
- Overview of the Admissions Process
- Career & Leadership Development
- Clinical exposure
Participants are housed at no charge in ICO’s Residential Complex located across the street from the college. At the end of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion!
Eligibility
Open to underrepresented minorities who are currently in an undergraduate program either in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year. There is no cost to participate in this program! Participants are responsible for their travel expenses and/or transportation to and from ICO.
Students interested in the program should submit a:
- Completed Application & Pre-Optmetry Coursework Sheet
- One page personal statement describing their interest in participating in the program and their motivation to pursue optometry
- Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
- One academic letter from a faculty member or advisor
We will start accepting applications on April 1st,
2008. Applications must be submitted to the address
below by April 30th, 2008.
