NBEO Pass Rates

Check the numbers.

ICO creates optometrists that are best prepared to practice, and we have the statistics to prove it. More than half of our fourth years receive honors from externship preceptors. On average, 1 in 4 ICO graduates is immediately accepted into a residency program. Given that we’re the largest optometry school in the nation, that’s a lot of successful doctors!

As students progress through the ICO curriculum, and providing they remain in good academic standing, they will be certified eligible to take the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) series of examinations. The National Board Examinations are required for licensure by every state in the U.S. and are recognized with increasing frequency in Canadian provinces. ICO students historically exceed the national pass rate on all parts of the NBEO exam.
