As a former ICO student and resident, I could not think of a more optimal clinical or educational setting. ICO provides all the necessary building blocks for students to succeed from top-notch equipment, diverse patient population, supportive professors/faculty, and a full-scope clinic. Each student graduates ready to provide the best medical care to their patients and the confidence to succeed. I am proud to be an alumna of ICO and look forward to helping future students find their passion within the amazing career of optometry! Biography Dr. Brady completed her undergraduate education at Indiana University Northwest, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2018 and completed a residency in primary care and ocular disease at ICO in 2019. Dr. Brady spends most of her time in clinical education with an emphasis in the Primary Eye Care and Urgent Care and Glaucoma clinics at ICO. I wanted to be part of the team that makes the ICO experience so amazing for the next generation of ODs. My ultimate goal is to make as much of an impact on our students’ lives and careers as my mentors made on mine. Biography After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Alexopoulos began her optometric journey at ICO, where she discovered her love for pediatric eye care. She completed the Pediatric & Infant Vision Residency at the SUNY College of Optometry, gaining valuable experience in both a university-based clinic and a high-volume hospital. She is full time member of the ICO Faculty, where she works as a clinical attending for third and fourth year students and teaches a Pediatric Optometry course. Dr. Alexopoulos also serves as ICO's Director of Contract Research, participates in several clinical research studies and is an investigator for PEDIG. I am proud to continue being a part of the ICO family and invest in teaching future doctors. Biography Dr. Skoog is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). After completing a Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses/Ocular Disease at ICO, he became a full-time faculty member. As a faculty member, he works in laboratory, clinic and classroom settings teaching first through fourth year students. ICO does a great job in providing students with the best in every aspect of their optometric education: didactic preparation, hands-on experience in labs, and unparalleled clinical exposure. The Illinois Eye Institute allows students, faculty, and patients to stay at the forefront and participate in early adaptation of academic advancement, clinical research, and medical innovation within eye care. Biography Dr. Dodda received her bachelor’s degrees at the University of Missouri in Kansas City in chemistry and liberal arts, with minors in biology, psychology, philosophy, and communications. She then pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and completed her residency in Primary and Comprehensive Care at the Indiana University School of Optometry, focusing on anterior segment disease, dry eye treatment and management, and ocular emergency services. Prior to returning to Chicago, Dr. Dodda practiced at an OD/MD tertiary care practice in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in the co-management of anterior segment disease and surgery. She is currently a full-time faculty member, clinical attending, and works with students in lectures and labs. The highly qualified faculty strive to provide a nurturing environment to students and embody true passion for the field of optometry. This can be seen in the ongoing research projects, publications in prominent optometry journals, awards and academic affiliations. The courses, laboratories and clinic all prepare the student clinician so that they are able to practice at the highest scope once they have graduated and entered their professional careers. The clinic provides exposure to a challenging patient population at the Illinois Eye Institute and access to state-of-the-art equipment, both of which also prepare the future optometrist well. Finally, Chicago is one of the best cities in the world. Having the opportunity to obtain an optometric degree with all the conveniences of home in such an amazing city is a combination that cannot be surpassed. Biography Dr. Sanghera earned her optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2006. She completed her residency in primary care and ocular disease from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2007. She then joined Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 2006 until January 2011, providing care to veterans and active duty military members and their families. In 2011, Dr. Sanghera became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and returned to ICO as a full-time faculty member. She is an active member in the clinic and laboratories. As we are located in a large city and serve a very diverse population, our students are exposed to a wide range of ocular conditions and situations. This is challenging, highly rewarding and truly the best preparation for becoming a well- rounded and competent clinician. Biography After graduating from ICO, Dr. Foreman moved to New York to do a residency in ocular disease and primary care at the Brooklyn and St. Albans VA medical centers. Upon completing the residency, she stayed on as a full-time staff optometrist at the Manhattan VA. In addition to seeing general primary care patients, she spent a great deal of time working with veterans who had suffered a traumatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury remains an area of interest. After four years at the VA, she relocated to Chicago and joined on as full-time faculty at ICO. Dr. Foreman works with students mainly in primary care clinics.
