White Coat Ceremony

A rite of passage for every beginning doctor

Large group of students celebrating a White Coat Ceremony

Every year, we celebrate our students as they transition from lab work (where they mostly practice in student pairs) to work in the clinic (where they meet current IEI patients.) This ceremony serves as a reminder of their commitment both to optometry and to their patients. By donning their white coats and swearing the optometric oath, they reinforce their dedication to the patients they will serve in Illinois Eye Institute and beyond.

Today is all about our next journey into patient care. . . The more that we practice our skills the more we can build better relationships and have greater outcome after each exam.
