NBEO Pass Rates

As students progress through the ICO curriculum, and providing they remain in good academic standing, they will be certified eligible to take the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) series of examinations. The National Board Examinations are required for licensure by every state in the U.S. and are recognized with increasing frequency in Canadian provinces. We are proud of our NBEO pass rates- proof that our doctors leave ICO best prepared to practice.

NBEO Part I evaluates competency in the basic and human sciences and is typically completed in March of the third professional year. NBEO Part II evaluates competency in clinical sciences of optometry and is taken in December of the fourth professional year. NBEO Part III can be completed anytime during the fourth professional year and evaluates clinical skills and patient management aspects of optometry. ICO faculty offers study sessions for each.
