Assistant Professor; Specialty Optometric Practice Curriculum Coordinator
Dr. Sicks graduated magna cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2006 with a BA in Biology. She received her OD from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2010. She went on to complete a post-graduate clinical residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in 2011. While in residence, she was also certified in and performed therapeutic anterior segment laser procedures. Currently, Dr. Sicks is an attending optometrist for third and fourth year interns in the Contact Lens and Primary Care services.
She is also involved in the didactic training of students in contact lenses and anterior segment laser therapy. She has presented continuing education lectures and poster presentations at local and national meetings and enjoys lecturing to both students and practitioners on contact lens topics. Dr. Sicks serves on the Communications Committee for the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators and is also involved in social media for the AOA’s Cornea and Contact Lens Section, among other professional activities.
