On June 20, 2019, Nora Kuby, ’20, won the 28th Annual AOSA Optometric Student Bowl at Optometry’s Meeting in St. Louis. The competition, which was sponsored by Essilor of America, included students from 25 schools and colleges of optometry. Contestants answered optometric questions over several rounds as over 850 audience members cheered them on. For her victory, Nora was awarded $1,000 and The Ventura Cup. The trophy will be proudly displayed at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago for one year. (This honor was previously won for ICO by Dr. Taylor Harris in 2017.)
“I want to thank the entire ICO community for all the love and encouragement before, during, and after the Optometry Student Bowl,” says Nora. “Your collective belief in me made me believe in myself, and I could not have made ICO proud without you all!”
In addition to Nora’s win, ICO was also recognized as a finalist in the event’s t-shirt design competition. We congratulate Nora and thank all members of the ICO community who helped make this win possible. ICO will be ready to defend the title in 2020 in Washington, D.C.!
