The Illinois Eye Institute has been selected as the only optometric clinic in the U.S. to investigate non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and potential links to PDE5 inhibitors (e.g. Cialis, Viagra). The IEI is one of 20 clinical trial centers designated to participate in the national study supported by Eli Lilly and Co. Eligible patients for the prospective case-crossover study are adult men with acute or sub-acute vision loss owing to NAION (within 45 days of onset of symptoms). The examination and related testing are free. If you have qualified patients for this study or wish to get more information, please contact Leonard Messner, OD, executive director of IEI, at lmessner@ico.edu.
