It’s been a really important part of my optometric career. This isn’t all that common, but it's been an important part of my career. You’ll work with many attendings at ICO. That ongoing learning has made me a better doctor and communicator. It’s all part of building a life that feels full and meaningful.

Especially after residency, there are so many opportunities students can pursue. His experiences and sea stories motivated me to see how I could make it part of my own story. I did eye exams and referred many patients for surgery. Because of her many unique and diverse experiences, Dr. Salazar now wears many hats at ICO. I actually got into optometry because of a few good friends of mine. For me, it took me doing a residency at ICO to realize teaching needed to be part of who I am as an optometrist How do you see optometry changing in the next few years and how do you hope to be a part of it? I get to be part of all this being a teacher at ICO. There are many specialties that students can choose. Mine originally was low vision.
