Career Development

The Career Development Department at the Illinois College of Optometry provides professional assistance through assisting students, residents and alumni with employment and practice opportunities throughout their careers. The department coordinates the ICOPro mentorship program as well as a variety of networking opportunities to help establish and develop relationships between students, residents, alumni, faculty, recruiters and practitioners.

Additional services include career counseling and career goal development; CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile review; interview preparation; career search assistance; and business seminars and workshops.

We have an active LinkedIn group with numerous job opportunities; this group is open only to ICO alumni and approval is required. Employers are also welcome to post opportunities on My.ICO, our internal portal for members of the ICO community. To make your position available to ICO alumni and students, please register for an employer account.

The Kattouf Program for the Advancement of Independent Optometry, founded by well-known practice management consultant Richard S. Kattouf, OD ’72, DOS, is a practice management program we manage exclusively for ICO students and residents.
