Why ICO?

ICO has a depth of faculty expertise and excellence that is unique among colleges of Optometry. I am fortunate to teach and practice amongst this group of specialists.

Biography

Dr. Flynn Roberts received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1991. The following year she completed a residency in Binocular Vision and Pediatrics at the Illinois Eye Institute. She joined the clinical education faculty in 1992 and has been an educator in the Primary Care service of the Illinois Eye Institute since that time. From July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2000 she was a Visiting Research Specialist at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Ophthalmology. During that time she completed a Fellowship in Hereditary Retinal disease and Visual Electrophysiology under Gerald A. Fishman, M.D.


Dr. Flynn Roberts is currently the Coordinator of the Electrophysiology Service. She has authored peer-reviewed articles about inherited retinal diseases and has presented research in visual electrophysiology at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Flynn Roberts is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and was a former Faculty/Student Liaison for ICO and Chair of the Faculty/Student Liaison Committee of the AAO.  She has also been an officer in the Illinois State Chapter of the AAO. Additionally, Dr. Roberts has been active in her community having served on the Board of Governors of the River Forest Community Center, as the President of the Family and School Association and President of the Athletic Committee of St. Luke School in River Forest, IL.


Special Interests

My specialty is Visual Electrophysiology. My research involves visual electrophysiology and inherited eye diseases. My professional interests are the above as well as unexplained vision loss.
