Our students build a strong foundation in the classroom and apply that knowledge in real-world settings, caring for underserved patients with a variety of complex conditions at the Illinois Eye Institute. ICO graduates are prepared to deliver high-quality, compassionate care with confidence, wherever they choose to practice.
Biography
After earning a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Biology and Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Patel began her optometric training at the Illinois College of Optometry. She went on to complete a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at ICO and joined the faculty in 2017.
Dr. Patel currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Community Based Education and International Programs and holds the title of Assistant Professor of Optometry at ICO. Clinically, she is an attending optometrist in the Glaucoma Unit, Primary Care Clinic, and Urgent Care Service at the Illinois Eye Institute.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of both the Illinois Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
